Coach Kerr’s frustration with the second time around, for Payton II
Any time an organization makes a trade deadline deal, the thought is the team needs an immediate impact. Much to the chagrin of three-time NBA Finals Head Coach Steve Kerr, He would know more than anyone else how important of Gary Payton II.
While on Bay Are sports radio show 95.7 The Game's "Damon & Ratto", courtesy of Taylor Wirth, Kerr sounds less than thrilled about Payton II’s evaluation:
"Yeah, disappointing, obviously," Kerr said. "I mean, we were excited about Gary's addition. We know what he did for us last year and we needed immediate help. We needed a boost at the deadline, and that was one of the reasons for the deal. So finding out that he was going to be out for a while was frustrating, but that's the way it goes.
If the Warriors are going to repeat, that defensive presence is a must! Especially with the legend and future NBA Hall of Famer Steph Curry still sidelined with a shoulder injury He received in January.
The Dubs are only 1 game below .500 but in a tough and heavy Western conference it puts them at the very bottom of the playoff picture. A conference that saw the return of former two time Golden State champion Kevin Durant, to the Phoenix Suns at the very same trade deadline via the Brooklyn Nets. Additionally seeing Brooklyn ship off Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks.
To say it’ll be tough sledding for Kerr is putting it minimally at best but Steve Kerr knows all to well.
"You go through this stuff, and every year something different happens," Kerr explained. "Players are injured, players are traded and stuff happens.
